Queen of the Primates

This short documentary takes us into the forests of Sơn Trà Mountain to meet one of Vietnam’s most endangered and iconic primates - the Red-Shanked Douc Langur.

Mission: This documentary isn’t just about the Red-Shanked Douc. It’s also about their role as a symbol of conservation in Vietnam, and why conservation without community isn’t conservation at all. It serves as a reminder to tourists and wildlife enthusiasts everywhere that we cannot protect species without taking time to understand and support the people who live alongside or work to protect them every single day.

Significance: This project was a particular passion of Connie’s as it was while watching these primates during a trip to Vietnam that the idea of project.wild was born. The colours of the Douc Langurs represent the branding for the business and hold a very special place in project.wild legacy.

Team: This project was made possible thanks to expert contributions from Next Continent, an ecotourism team leading the way in wildlife ethics in Vietnam.

Want to help bring the next documentary to life?

Currently, all project.wild documentaries are entirely self-funded. This means we are limited in what we can bring to life - but that certainly isn’t stopping the vision or ambition! In order to keep going, we rely on donations from those who believe in the vision and importance of these pieces.

If you are in a position to donate, it is greatly appreciated. All new donations as of Sept 2025 will go towards the development of the next documentary, and all donors will be thanked in the documentary credits.
