Full Itinerary
-
Meet your group and enjoy a welcome dinner to get to know each other.
Be sure to get some rest because we will be leaving early the next morning!
Note: Please arrive in Phnom Penh no later than 5pm. If possible, we recommend arriving early and spending a day learning about the history of Cambodia at the the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek.
-
We’ll be up early to load into a mini-van and start the approx. 7 hour journey to Mondulkiri Provence, a true nature haven in Cambodia.
This is a long day, but sometimes seeing wildlife in their natural habitats requires us to be willing to travel far! We will stop along the way for food and restrooms.
We should arrive at Jahoo in the late afternoon, in time for an orientation, group dinner, and maybe even a sundowner!
-
These days will be full wild immersion at the Jahoo gibbon camp, where we’ll be learning about community-based conservation and have the opportunity to spot many incredible species.
Activities will include:
2 morning walks (1 with the opportunity to join the research team observing wild gibbons)
2 night walks
2 daytime walks (including lunch cooked and served in the jungle)
1 interactive workshop (exact focus to be voted on by the group)
1 camera trapping session
1 waterfall walk with a local community to learn about Bunong culture
On our final day we will transfer into the town of Sen Monorum and check into our accommodation for a free evening to relax.
Note: Hot water is a luxury we may not always have at Jahoo, but WiFi and electricity are available.
-
After an early start, we will be collected by the team at EVP and transferred to their base camp.
Activities include:
2 guided treks to visit the resident elephants (you will also learn their stories and about the realities of elephant care in Southeast Asia)
1 jungle hike with a local Bunong guide or an on-site workshop about elephant care/conservation (to be voted on by the group)
1 volunteer session (exact activity depending on current EVP projects)
On our final day we will return to our accommodation in Sen Monorum to relax, pack, and enjoy one final dinner together.
Note: Accommodation at EVP is basic. Hot water may not be available and there is no WiFi. Data is accessible from some points around the camp, but please prepare to not have any. Electronic devices can be charged in the communal area. This is 2 days truly off grid, so embrace it!
-

Here, we can arrange an airport drop off or onwards travel (please see the optional additions section).

Important things to remember:
-
✽
This trip offers many opportunities to see wildlife, but sightings can never be guaranteed. Wildlife moves in unpredictable ways and the welfare of the animal will always be considered before tourist experience. So please come with patience and a curiosity to learn about the humans, plant life, and any little critter you may see.
-
✽
project.wild has strict policies against racism, homophobia, sexual misconduct, and any form of hate speech. Please know that none of the above will be tolerated on these trips.
-
✽
When travelling to remote areas to see wildlife you may lose some of the comforts you are used to! Hot water, toilet plumbing, WiFi, and electricity are all things that can fluctuate so please be prepared to embrace a more simple way of doing things when needed.
